MAN Turbo Turbines

Gas turbine GT-2721 is a MAN Turbo gas turbine of type THM 1304-11 and is mounted on a base frame. The gas turbine depressurizes high-energy exhaust gas, thus converting thermal energy into mechanical energy. The mechanical energy generated by the gas turbine is used to drive the machine train. The gas turbine is supplied with the required fuel via a fuel gas system.

The start-up system consists of a frequency-controlled asynchronous motor and a frequency converter. The start-up system is mounted on the base frame of the machine unit and has the following functions:

 

  • Ventilation before initiation of ignition to purge gas residues out of the core turbine and if installed out of the downstream heat recovery boiler.
  • Acceleration of gas generator rotor up to ignition speed, self-sustaining speed or cleaning speed.

 

Compressor K-2721 is a 7-stage single-shaft centrifugal compressor with a horizontally split casing of RH 56-7 type. The compressor is mounted on the base frame of the machine train. Compressor operates as a continuous fluid flow machine according to the dynamic principle. The mechanical energy transmitted by the driver is transmitted in the compressor stages to the process gas flowing in at the suction nozzle. After its pressure has been continuously increased in the Individual compressor stages, the process gas enters the downstream process. With the specified discharge pressure at the discharge nozzle. When the compressor is depressurized, a depressurization rate of 20 bar/min must not be exceeded. Higher rates will cause damage to the internal casing seals. (LP Compressor)

 

Compressor K-2721 is a vertically spitted, 8-stage barrel compressor of RB 35-8 type. The compressor is mounted on the base frame of the machine train. The compressor operates as a continuous fluid flow machine according to the dynamic principle. The mechanical energy transmitted by the driver is transmitted in the compressor stages to the process gas flowing in at the suction nozzle. After its pressure has been continuously increased in the individual compressor stages, the process gas enters the downstream process with the specified discharge pressure at the discharge nozzle. The couplings are of flexible steel multiple-disk design. Equalizing shaft misalignment, they transmit the torque via flexible steel multiple-disk packages.

The exhaust system drains the exhaust gases of the gas turbine and the blow off air of the gas generator. The exhaust gas system comprises the following subassemblies:

  • Exhaust Duct
  • Exhaust Gas Stack
  • Expansion Joint(s)
  • Exhaust Gas Silencer

 

The outer surface of the exhaust gas stack and silencer are heat insulated to protect persons against burns if they contact these parts. The insulation is covered with aluminum sheets. A manhole is provided for overhauling purposes. It must only be opened if the gas turbine plant is shut down and cooled off. Gauge connections allow measurements of temperature and emissions.
